Width and depth of place of crossing. Since Israel crossed the sea in one night, it could hardly be assumed that the waters parted in a narrow channel. Rather, the channel may have been a kilometer or more in width. Though in fairly close marching formation, such a group, along with what wagons they had, their baggage, and their cattle, even when rather closely ranked, would occupy an area of perhaps 8 sq km (3 sq mi) or more. It appears, therefore, that the sea-opening allowed the Israelites to cross on a fairly wide front. If there was about a 1.5-km (1 mi) front, then the depth of the Israelite column would probably be about 5 km (3 mi) or more. If it was about a 2.5-km (1.5 mi) front, the depth might be about 3 km (2 mi) or more. It would take such a column several hours to get into the seabed and travel across it. While they did not go in panic, but maintained their battle formation, they would no doubt move with considerable haste.
Had it not been for the cloud, the Egyptians would have easily overtaken and slaughtered many. (Ex 15:9) When the Israelites had gone into the sea and the cloud behind them had moved ahead to reveal this fact to the Egyptians, they pursued. Here, again, is emphasized the necessity of considerable breadth and length of dry seabed, for Pharaoh's military force was great. Bent on destruction and recapture of their former slaves, the entire force went well into the seabed. Then, during the morning watch, which ran from about 2:00 to 6:00 a.m., Jehovah looked out from the cloud and began to throw the camp of the Egyptians into confusion, taking the wheels off their chariots.-Ex 14:24.
The Israelites, by the approaching of morning, got safely across on the eastern shore of the Red Sea. Then Moses was commanded to stretch his hand out so that the waters would come back over the Egyptians. At this "the sea began to come back to its normal condition," and the Egyptians fled from encountering it. This also would indicate that the waters had opened up widely, for a narrow channel would have immediately overwhelmed them. The Egyptians fled from the enclosing walls of water toward the western bank, but the waters kept converging until their depth completely covered all the war chariots and the cavalrymen belonging to Pharaoh's military forces; not so much as one of them was let remain.
It is obvious that such an overwhelming inundation would be impossible in a marsh. Moreover, in a shallow marsh dead bodies would not wash up on the shore, as actually took place, so that "Israel got to see the Egyptians dead on the seashore."-Ex 14:22-31

If the Israelites were slaves and being oppressed by the Egyptians where did they get all their camping gear & supplies to wander in the wilderness for 40 years ?
by smiddy injust think of the logistics to organise a nation of people to accomplish this venture.people who say god provided.... just dont think.. they needed food ,clothing, utensils, tents, tools, fabric, livestock, for food & sacrifice, water, space between families, sanitary facilities,etc.etc.etc.. and don`t forget a generation had to die off before they could enter the promised land.. where is the evidence for any of this.. smiddy.

I remember sitting in the principals office because I couldnt salute the flag or go to various assemblies
and activities that were deemed pagan.
I remember missing many interesting tv shows because I had to go to meetings.
I remember not doing good in school, because I was always going to meetings.
I remember my mother not allowing my father to celebrate Christmass because we were allways going to the meetings.
I remember not being able to eat Mars bars, Three muskateers, milkyways because they contained lethicin which was alledgedly
made out of blood. And I remember sneaking out of the house from time to time as a 7,8,9, 10 year old and buying them
and eating them before I got home.

Public Outrage As Police Tasers A Deaf Crime Victim
by Scott77 injust still reeling from the recent unfortunate arrest of natalie plummer, yet another shocking arrest and brutalization of a victim is reported.
for this accident, i feel horrified and outraged by this excessive abuse of authority by some members of law enforcement.

I work in a jail. I was trained to work in the jail and on the road.
When I trained to be a road deputy back in the 80's the police did not have tazers and they had revolver guns.
We were taught when someone was coming at us first of all to sidestep them or 2 to redirect them by pushing
them aside. Those are the same techniques we use in jail.
It seems many cops are too anxious to use the tazer, apparently the police havent lost enough lawsuits
to change their current policy on zapping people. This was my comment until I read more of the post from the public,
the following post base on the police report makes it appear to me that the tazering was justified.

COME ON everybody- read the police report. I finally was able to open and read the police report and it states that Ms. Lashonn White was the Offender (primary aggressor)which it means the other lady was the victim so that is why the deaf lady in the story (White) was arrested and booked for assault. The reporter made it sound like White was the victim when it was the another way around. The second woman,Johnson, had no problem being calm and was able to talk with the cops even that she was deaf too and she was in middle of explaining what was going on when White flew out the door and ran wildly toward the cops and Johnson (who tried to get behind the cops) so the cops did the right thing by protecting the victim and themselves. Even if White was the victim of a beating, the cops reacted the way they did due to what they observed and it is White's own fault to get in this situation by running like a madwoman toward the cops.
It is clear that White tried to make it sound like she was "a poor victim" by trying to place the blame on the cops. She is not going to win a lawsuit in this case. Miranda was waived by White too..so don't even start on how she could not understand anything.
I can't believe that the news made this story into something else..actually I can believe it because media loves to twist things around to make stories sound more dramatic than what it is really is. The story is only about 2 women who got in fight with eachother- that is all!
If the reporter wants to dig into why the interpreter were not called to booking/jail for 3 days (that is if it is true) then go and investigate the booking dept and find out the truth. Jeez! -

What do you replace it with?
by konceptual99 inso... i am coming to the conclusion that pretty much all of the doctrinal stuff that i have believed for 25/30 years is built on a house of cards and it's about to come crashing down.
question is what do i replace it with?.
my intellectual head says that that whole thing is junk and there is almost certainly no god at all.

God is a mystery, his ways are not our ways.
I would think Jesus knew of the Torah, he is called rabbi in the scriptures.. The Torah, the old testament are writings pointing to Jesus.
And it contains rules and regulations that the Jews would not or could not keep.
As far as slavery, there was slavery amongst the Jews which had favorable rules and stipulations, the Jews did
not have prisons like we do today, so they dealt with discretions by becoming indentured. As far as being enslaved under
another system or government Jesus had different recommendations.
But the Jews did not keep the Torah laws and Jesus freed them from the rules, regulations and legalisms of
the Torah.
With Jesus all you have to have is love and faith. Really all you need is faith.
As far as the subjugation of women, that also was part of their culture, and it appears that it is part of Gods
order. It appears to be an earthly thing. On earth we all die and go to heaven and then we are like the angels.
I dont see any sex distinction in heaven.

Personal experience thats all I can tell you about.
Thats all anybody can tell you about.
Everything that is written down is someone elses experience.
If you talk about someone elses experience you are just being a parrot.

1952-1983.
I don't know what they believe nowadays.
They never seemed to know what they believed when I was in.
They complained about some bright light always getting in their eyes.

Scriptures seem to hint that Jehovah/Yahweh is a SON of God?
by EndofMysteries inafter the past few years of trying to really figure out what the bible is teaching and no influence, one of the things has been that possibly the god of the israelites may have been a son.
i want feedback on what i am about to show.
this is the tip of the iceberg, just one angle of what may be going on.

What do I think?
I think I will believe in Jesus, that keeps it simple for me.
But if you want to root around in these complex matters of the old testament, which I did in the past.
Zechariah Sitchin and his series the 12 th planet based on his interpretations of the Sumerian]
text deals extensively with your topic.
Jehovah, yahwah would be a son of God.
And the world is divided into factions of the nephilim demigods who have their kingdoms
and sort of entertain themselves by playing human chest matches. They use religion,
politics and culture to stir up the masses.
